Vhi’s new plan PMI 10 11 (€807.22) was released on the 1st July 2011 as what appears to be a replacement of a plan they had launched just days beforehand.
What does this mean? On the surface not a whole lot but I have previously written about the strange nature in which Vhi seem to be manipulating their plans of late. The problem for me is that health insurance is already a mine field of plans and leaves people bewildered trying to find out what will best suit them and this simply muddies the waters further.
This new plan offers exactly the same benefits from what we can see, a private room in a public hospital and a semi-private room in a private hospital with a €125 inpatient excess. The benefit paid for participating private hospitals for specified hip, knee and shoulder joint replacement procedures and specified ophthalmic procedures will be provided at 80% of the cost.
There is a maternity accommodation grant of €3,400 with significant outpatient benefits, which carry an outpatient excess of €30 per person. Outpatient benefits typically provide €25 x 4 visits towards GP and dental and €60 x 4 visits towards outpatient consultant fees.
This plan is now be available for all new and renewing customers.
