The Bon Secours Hospital on Cork’s College Road has invested €350,000 in hospital ophthalmology services for eye-related diagnoses and treatment.

The new ophthalmology suite in the hospital’s outpatients department has three new treatment suites. Facilities include corneal topography and tomography examinations, IOL Master biometric and OCT and retinal ultrasound examinations, fundus photography and visual field analysis.

Procedures will be carried out by a four-strong team of consultant ophthalmologist surgeons led by Behrooz Golchin.

They will provide services including the assessment and treatment of cornea and ocular surface disease, cataract, eye lid and anterior segment surgery, medical and surgical glaucoma management and diabetic Retinopathy screening and management.

The Bon Secours Hospital in Cork is owned by the Bon Secours Health System, which was established in 1993 to coordinate the management of hospitals under the care of the Bon Secours sisters.

In addition to hospitals in Dublin, Galway and Tralee, the privately-owned group also owns the Mount Desert Care Village in Cork.

Last year, Bon Secours Cork rolled out a new €330,000 HR and payroll software in conjunction with Wicklow-based software firm Softworks.
