With effect from 17th June 2012 Aviva are introducing a range of benefit & rule changes.
These benefits are split between:
a. Hospital Benefit Changes
Changes involve removing cover for private rooms in Public Hospitals on some plans. Aviva’s reasons for this change no doubt relate to the Minister for Health’s announcement at the beginning of the year to increase the cost of private beds which now costs approximately €1,046 per night.
b. Outpatient & Overseas Cover Changes.
The changes to rules impact student age and the current new-born rule. This will see them bring the maximum age of students down to 21 and newborns free until renewal rather than until 1 year of age. This change will bring them in line with the other two Irish health insurer’s current policy.
Outpatient excesses will also be raised to levels closer to that of the other 2 competitors. This will see individual excesses move from €150 per person to €200 per person and from €250 per family to €200 for each person in the family.
These changes will impact many plans and will be communicated to members as part of their renewal packs, which drop from 15th May 2012 onwards.
In the meantime feel free to contact us for individual changes and how they may effect your plan.
