On Tuesday the 22nd of November, Aviva Health will launch two new affordable plans in a bid to attract younger members who might otherwise be considering dropping their health insurance altogether in the face of increasing prices.

Some of you who have previously switched from Vhi to another health insurance provider will be aware that Vhi’s policy was to cancel your multi trip travel insurance with effect from the day you cancelled your health insurance with no refund.

A recent article in the Sunday Business Post revealed the details of confidential submissions from the Vhi to the Department of Health which show the depth of division between the two, on the future of the Vhi.

The EU, as expected, has ruled against Ireland for continuing to allow VHI an exemption from regulation by the Central Bank. As a result of this the VHI will now have to find over €300 Million to reach the solvency requirements that would allow it to meet the regulatory solvency requirements and be fully regulated.

Vhi Healthcare will release 5 new plans on 1 August 2011. These are PMI 11 11 (€871 per adult), PMI 12 11 (€786.66 per adult), PMI 14 11 (€862 per adult), PMI 16 11 (€950 per adult) and PMI 17 11 (€702.22 per adult).
